Time Out says

In this house-museum, not only does the Municipal Historical Archive operate, but also the Municipal Library of Cascais, with all the works edited or supported by the municipality. Formerly the residence of millionaire businessman Henrique Sommer, it was inaugurated by the Museum Neighborhood in 2016. On the top floor is part of the archive, with a space for consultation of works, where you can find the desk of Branquinho da Fonseca (1905-1974), the father of itinerant libraries in Portugal. On the middle floor, you will find temporary exhibitions. On the ground floor, the aforementioned municipal library of the town resides.

What’s on

Soldados da Paz: História(s) dos Bombeiros do concelho de Cascais

The exhibition Soldados da Paz: História(s) dos Bombeiros do concelho de Cascais, on display at Casa Sommer (Municipal Historical Archive), pays tribute to the history and legacy of the municipality’s five fire brigades: Cascais, Carcavelos and S. Domingos de Rana, Estoril, Parede and Alcabideche. Drawing on items from public and private collections, the exhibition revisits milestones of courage, solidarity and commitment to the community that have shaped these institutions since 1888.
