Tucked close to the Pile Gate, Nishta stands out from the plethora of eateries in Dubrovnik’s historic centre thanks to its policy of concentrating on global vegan and vegetarian cuisine. Surrounded by meat and fish restaurants, Nishta (‘Nothing’) offers a different selection for each of the six days it operates – Sunday is a day of rest. Pass by on a Wednesday and currently you’ll find moussaka with spelt and ratatouille, pop in the next day and it’s a curry platter of dahl, wholegrain basmati rice and three types of curry involving chickpeas, aubergines and tofu. Raw food is another focus, lettuce wrap with guacamole or nori rolls with horseradish. Falafel wraps, and dahl, rice and naan, can be ordered daily as snacks.
