Hong Kong’s annual outdoor youth arts festival, the Standard Chartered Arts in the Park, has confirmed its return to Causeway Bay in November. This year, the carnival will be themed after fairytales and we can’t wait to see magical characters from our cherished childhood tales take over the streets.

Everyone from young dreamers who like their bedtime stories to adults revisiting childhood favourites will get a kick out of seeing tales like Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, The Emperor’s New Clothes, Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladdin, The Happy Prince, and other classic stories represented in creative ways.

There will be creative arts booths, live storytelling sessions in both English and Cantonese, African drumming workshops, 60 live performances, and more than 900 pieces of artwork exhibited over two days. Of course, the highlight of the carnival is in the parade featuring giant puppets.

The Night Parade starts at 8.30pm from Lee Garden One, featuring five illuminated puppets, 18 varieties of twinkling costumes, and more than 150 performers including a marching band, a juggling team, a rope skipping troupe, and plenty of dancers.

The next afternoon on Sunday sees the Grand Finale Parade kick off at 2.30pm to make its way from Great George Street to Victoria Park. 10 four-metre-tall puppets depicting fairytale characters will be the stars of the show, accompanied by costumes, music, and dance.

Catch the Standard Chartered Arts in the Park 2026 on the weekend of November 14 and 15.
