Positano doesn't just have views; it has the view. This is the town where pastel-hued homes tumble down the cliffside toward the shimmering sea. It’s a seriously luxurious, and seriously relaxing, desintaiton on Italy’s famous Amafli Coast. Whether you are planning a honeymoon or a trip with friends, staying in an Airbnb offers you the privacy and freedom no five-star hotel can. We’ve climbed the stairs and scouted the terraces to bring you the most exclusive Positano villas, with pools, hot tubs and everything in between.

Who makes the cut? While we might not stay in and review every Airbnb featured, our writers have based our list on expert knowledge of the destination covered, editorial reviews, user reviews, amenities and in-depth research to find you the best stays. What’s the deal with Positano’s stairs?

Positano is a vertical city. You will walk hundreds of steps a day. If your villa is high up, you can hire a porter (porters are available at the main pier) to carry your luggage. It is the best £15 you will spend on the trip.

What is the best time to visit Positano?

May and September, the so-called shoulder months, are often considered the best. The weather is perfect for swimming, the bougainvillea is in full bloom, and the crowds are slightly more manageable than July.

Keep in mind that many restaurants and shops in Positano close from November to March. If you visit in the off-season, expect a very quiet (but beautiful) experience.

How do you get to Positano?

Positano does not have its own train station or airport. So the best way to get there would be...

By train: Take a train to Salerno station, walk to the nearby Concordia ferry port, and take a ferry directly to Positano. This is often recommended for people with heavy luggage.

By plane: Fly to Naples Airport. Get a direct ferry to the Port of Positano, which takes up to an hour and a half. Or you can go by car or private transfer, which is around 2 hours depending on traffic.
