Best restaurant specials in Johannesburg: Where to dine every day of the week

Spring has sprung and this October, Ocean Basket unveils its brand new summer menu packed with wallet-friendly seafood favourites.

For R99, diners can surely enjoy the Shore Thing, featuring fish, prawns, calamari and chips come with Ocean Basket’s creamy lemon sauce. Sushi lovers will go to Asia with the Sushi20 at R145. You read that right, it's a mix of 20 rolls with crunch, salmon and spicy sauce.

For the really famished, there's the Reel Love Platter at R145 and its prawns, calamari, fish, rice and chips will deal with your hunger very fast.

If you're have company, the Summer Wave will feed everyone with its generous serving of queen prawns alongside fish, calamari, mussels, rice and chips and Ocean Basket’s signature creamy lemon sauce, of course.

The specials run until 31 OCtober.

SEC Restaurant puts food and drinks at the centre of the Rosebank experience, making it an easy meeting point for friends.

Midweek starts with nachos and a drink for R160 per person on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with Clos Malverne Brut, Rosé or a Margarita to choose from. 

Come Thursday, a burger and 500ml Heineken draught only cost R155. The Friday and Saturday special is made for sharing, with a build-your-own platter for two and three complimentary Aperol Spritz or Whiskey Sour cocktails for R450.

Verdicchio Restaurant & Wine Cellar in Fourways is where to go when you’re after a slightly more refined meal. There’s an Italian influence running through the menu, alongside an extensive wine selection and a Restaurant Week XXL offering this month. For R395 per person, you can settle in for the multi-course lunch or dinner menu until the end of the month.

Hussar Grill, Waterfall Corner has two specials worth knowing about if steak and a proper meal are on your mind. Two courses are going for just R199 per person, with the seasonal lunch menu available Monday to Saturday from noon until 4pm. 

Tuesday evenings bring a little romance to the menu, with two courses for R499 per couple or three courses for R599, plus a complimentary bottle of wine or two soft drinks. Tuesday date nights are covered until 27 October. 

The Bull Run’s Sandton location makes it a natural lunch stop, and its weekday specials give you another reason to step away from the office. On the menu, you’ll find steak, egg and chips for R129, beef pie and chips for R110 and a 250g fillet with a side for R239. 

For R199, get the Rugby Burger and Beer deal while you watch the match. The game-day menu includes sharing platters from R400, plus six wings for R95. The promotions are available until the end of October, covering the rest of the month’s fixtures.   

At Galito's in Protea Glen, diners can choose any two meals from a selection of three for R99, giving you a little flexibility over what lands on your plate. The deal is available at participating Galito's outlets throughout the month, so you’ve got time to work it into your plans.

There’s a different reason to visit Razzle@566 in Boksburg each day, thanks to its rotating weekly specials. Half chicken is R69 on Mondays, with chicken livers and giblets at R49. 

For Tuesday, the prawn deal comes in at R109 for 10 or R179 for 18. There’s a choice of espetadas on Wednesday, priced between R109 and R159. Thursday brings chicken schnitzel for R109, or two pizzas for R189 if you’re sharing. For East Rand diners who like to keep things interesting, the changing specials give you a different reason to come back. 

If sports, drinks and a good food deal sound like your kind of evening, Bada Bing Sportsbar & Cafe in Boksburg has the week covered. Start the week with 12 crumbed buffalo wings for R99,95, then switch things up on Tuesday with a cheeseburger and chips for R69,95 or a 10-piece sushi platter for R109. 

Meat lovers have a few options later in the week, including a 400g T-bone with chips for R119, 1kg of pork ribs for R249 or a 300g rump with chips for R119. It’s a good place for an evening that starts with drinks and ends with a meal, without the bill getting out of hand. 

When pizza is the answer, Pizza Perfect Lambton has a couple of deals on the menu this month. For R169, there’s also a half rack of pork ribs with chips, available until 19 October. The Germiston branch has two large pizzas for R199, with several pizzas to choose from. The offer runs until 21 October. Some nights call for takeout, and this one makes a good case for it. 

At R165, Club 14’s Friday special gets you a 500g T-bone, chips and a 500ml Castle Lite draught. The offer is available on Fridays throughout October. Other recurring specials include steak, egg and chips for R99, a 250g fillet with a choice of side and sauce for R160, and a Thursday hake and chips or savoury rice special for R85. 

Breakfast comes in at R49, including an egg, toast, bacon, cherry tomatoes and coffee, while dessert is R65 for a chocolate volcano cake with vanilla ice cream. Steak and beer on a Friday has a certain old-school appeal, especially when it comes at this price. 

Pizza night doesn’t have to cost much at Debonairs Pizza at Tembisa Plaza. The Real Deal Loaded is R35.90 until 12 October, while the On The Double promotion gets you two large pizzas for R179.90. Some nights call for pizza on the couch, and this deal fits the brief.

Restaurant Week South Africa 2026 has made its way to Priva Restaurant in Waterkloof Heights. Priced at R595 per person, the three-course menu starts with options such as prawns kataifi, springbok carpaccio or mosaic sushi roll. 

For the main, choose from steak Diane beef fillet, lamb shoulder or salmon, before finishing with hot chocolate fondant, pina colada panna cotta or creme brulee. For R895 per person, the three-course menu comes with a wine pairing, including a glass with each course. Both menus are available throughout the month.

There’s a little bit of everything on the weekly specials at Farm 'n Sea Grillhouse, from sushi and burgers to seafood. A 25-piece assorted sushi platter is R170 on Tuesdays, while burger fans get 20 percent off on Thursdays. 

There’s a little bit of land and sea on the Friday menu, with half a kilogram of pork ribs, half a kilogram of prawns and a side for R239. For anyone spending the day in the Vaal, the weekly specials give you a reason to stop for lunch or dinner.
