Opera North’s new production of Mozart’s ever-popular ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ is directed by Jo Davies (‘Ruddigore’ and ‘Carousel’) and sung in English. Based on the controversial play by French satirist Pierre Beaumarchais, Figaro tells the story of ‘la folle journée’ – ‘the follies of a day’ – where jealousies, desires and revenge abound in this high-spirited comedy drama.
