King’s Cross does a good trade in proper wet-led boozers – there’s the Dolphin, there’s Miller’s and, on a leafy backstreet not far from where the great comedian Kenneth Williams grew up, the pick of the bunch: the Boot. A simple, one-room affair, the pub’s interior is adorned with all manner of Hibernian sporting paraphernalia, from hurleys and jerseys to trophies and plaques. Its bric-a-brac-filled walls – along with the pub’s reasonably priced pints, live sports, and convivial atmosphere – are conducive to long, boozy afternoons spent deep in refreshment. There’s a pool table, there’s a dart board, and there’s a giant Timberland boot behind the bar. And it’s well worth popping in for a pint (or four).
