Tim Key’s poems in pictures

A gallery of Key’s poems, written on the back of (often filthy) playing cards

Advertising
In case you haven't been to one of his shows, Tim Key – poet, comedian, denim jumpsuit-wearer and Alan Partridge sidekick – reads aloud his brilliantly silly poems written on the backs of playing cards. Key very kindly let us borrow a bunch of his poetical cards to make this gallery. So flick through the slideshow below to read poems about sparrows, hanky panky, Barack Obama and more. Quick warning: most of the playing cards happen to be pornographic (don't worry, we've covered up the naughty bits).

There’s something genuinely heartening about the fact that Tim Key – essentially a weird poet – has become such a big deal, in part (of course) thanks to his appearances in less poetic guise in everything from talk shows to Alan Partridge to Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17. He’s been touring new show Loganberry – follow up to previous hit Mulberry – for a couple of years now and it’s another good ’un, a midlife crisis show dispatched in Key’s inimitable style, prompted by his outrage when Gabby Logan invited him on her podcast about middle age.
