London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks are watched by millions of people from home every year. Ten million UK viewers tuned in last year to watch the city’s largest pyrotechnic display to date. But nothing quite compares to experiencing the countdown on the banks of the Thames in real time, glass of prosecco in hand, and another glass of prosecco in the other.
If you want to be one of the lucky thousands attending the legendary display, you’ll need to be organised with getting tickets. The Mayor of London has just announced ticket details for the official event.
From where you can buy tickets to how much it will cost you, we’ve gone through all the info to give you the key details. Here’s everything you need to know about attending London’s New Year’s Eve firework show 2026.
When do tickets for London’s NYE fireworks go on sale?
Watching the official display in London became ticketed in 2014, so you can only attend if you purchase a ticket beforehand.
Set your alarms, the first batch of tickets will go on sale at 12pm on Friday, October 23. You’ll be able to buy a maximum of four tickets. A second batch of ticket sales will also be released later, but a date for that hasn’t been set yet.
But don’t get caught out by scams: tickets are only being sold officially through Ticketmaster.
If you need to resell your ticket, you can do so through the Ticketmaster Fan-to-Fan Resale platform. You can also transfer a ticket to a friend, which is also managed through Ticketmaster.
London NYE Firework Shows 2026 prices
This year, tickets are between £20 to £55, including VAT but not the booking fee, and you’ll get a hefty £20 discount if you live at a London postcode.
For Category A viewing areas (Blue, Pink and White areas – more on that further down), tickets are £55, or £35 if you’re a Londoner.
Category B viewing areas (Red, Green and Orange areas) are £40, or £20 for locals.
The Londoner discount is based on the billing address on the card you use to purchase the tickets with. So make sure the postcode attached to your card is your London address. Proof of address might be required on the night also.
What time does the event start?
The event will start at 8pm on Thursday December 31 and end at 12.30am on January 1 2027.
Viewing areas
There are six different ticketed viewing areas. And if you’re looking to get that Instagrammable shot of fireworks over the famous London Eye you’ll want to pay attention to these.
The viewing areas this year are:
- Blue: Victoria Embankment from Westminster Bridge to Golden Jubilee Footbridge. It’s directly opposite the London Eye.
- Red: Victoria Embankment from Golden Jubilee Footbridge to Temple Avenue. This is a side view, further down the river from the London Eye.
- Pink: Waterloo Bridge. A side view of the London Eye.
- Green: Behind the London Eye.
- White: Westminster Bridge – a side view close to the London Eye.
- Orange, which has an accessible viewing area: Albert Embankment, riverside of St Thomas’s Hospital. A partial side view of the London Eye.
What’s been said about this year’s display?
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: ‘Nowhere in the world brings in the new year like London. Every year our unique display of fireworks, lighting and music shows off the very best of London, as around 100,000 Londoners and visitors line the banks of the River Thames and millions watch on around the world.
‘I’m proud that our celebrations get better every year and are an incredible advert for our capital and a significant boost to our hospitality and tourism industries.
‘Demand for tickets is always high, so I urge anyone wanting to attend to buy your ticket as soon as possible so you don’t miss out on experiencing the best New Year’s Eve fireworks show in the world.’
