Ozzy’s is the second New Haven pizza joint to call this unassuming Seven Sisters Road pub home – the first was Lenny’s Apizza, which has since moved to a slick new space in Covent Garden. And first impressions suggest newbie Ozzy’s is destined for similarly great heights. In fact, it’s lived many lives already, first starting up in LA in 2021, with branches in New Haven, Glendale, Canoga Park, and now the humble Finsbury Park. This unlikely pairing was born out of the friendship between Craig Taylor (a New Haven Gooner) and Milo Oddi (a Finsbury Park local), who learned the ropes at the original Ozzy’s in New Haven.
The menu is mostly classics – a cheese, a pepperoni, a sausage and the option of adding anchovy and stracciatella. But there’s also the Fish & Chip, which is a British twist on a New Haven classic – clams, salty potato scallops, pecorino and a dollop of tartar sauce. It is a salty, greasy glut of a pizza that is destined to be devoured on camera by every food influencer within a 10-mile radius.
But what makes Ozzy’s really stand out is its pizza bases, which are crispy, charred and entirely unfloppable, with a serious, satisfying chew. Crusts are blackened and burnt, but you’ll be diving in and gnawing at them like an animal. Oh and no dips, you mayonnaise fiends.
