The wait is over, and it's only just beginning: Echo Park's critically acclaimed Japanese-inspired bakery and café has finally landed in a much larger space on the Westside. Already, the line forms early in the day at the One Culver eatery, where chefs Akira Akuto and Nick Montgomery offer their trademark konbini-style sandwiches and buttery croissants, plus newer additions like homemade ice cream and bostock topped with sesame frangipane, mascarpone and strawberries. A single slim eight-seat counter comprises the entirety of indoor dining, but Konbi also has plenty of outdoor tables adjoining Go Get Em Tiger next door. Our words of advice? Get there right when they open, and note the mandatory 20% service fee—Konbi now has a no-tipping policy.
