New Yorkers have approximately a million opinions about NYC pizza. And DoorDash’s latest list just gave all five boroughs something to complain about.
The delivery platform recently released its 2026 Top Pizza Spots, recognizing 40 local favorites nationwide for National Pizza Month, but just two New York pizzerias made the cut: Gino’s NY Pizza in Buffalo and The Pizzeria in Bayport, Long Island. New York City, meanwhile, received precisely zero slots.

Before we convene an emergency pizza summit, consider the methodology. This customer-ratings list is drawn from DoorDash data and covers September 2025 through September 2026. Eligible restaurants and brands had fewer than 10 locations and at least 1,000 reviews and were selected based on the highest average overall customer ratings. (The results are grouped by region, rather than numbered from best to worst.)
So, who’s representing the Empire State?
In Buffalo, Gino’s NY Pizza serves New York-style pies alongside specialties that put chicken and bleu cheese front and center. Its Famous Deep Bleu Chicken Pizza combines a deep-dish format with bleu cheese and marinated Buffalo chicken. Fimi’s Stinger Pizza goes further, piling steak and chicken fingers onto a bleu cheese base, with a choice of hot, medium or mild. Traditionalists can stick with cheese or pepperoni slices.
On Long Island, The Pizzeria’s Bayport location on Montauk Highway offers round and square pies, from a classic Grandma to considerably more loaded options. The Uncle Benny features fresh mozzarella, cup-and-char pepperoni, crumbled sausage, Mike’s Hot Honey and basil. The Tri-Fecta brings together vodka sauce, pizza sauce and pesto, while the square White pie combines ricotta, mascarpone, mozzarella and white truffle oil.
“What I love about pizza is how local it is,” said Ruth Isenstadt, DoorDash’s head of U.S. restaurants, in the company's announcement. The company also shared ordering data that offers New York City a small consolation prize: New York-style was its fastest-growing major pizza style in 2025, with orders increasing more than 80% over 2024.
Pepperoni remained the most-ordered topping, followed by onion and sausage. White pizza led the platform’s style categories with more than 3 million orders, while pineapple was ordered more often than olives, bacon, chicken or ham.
Apparently, America loves New York-style pizza. It just found its DoorDash favorites outside the city this time.
