Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which means your elaborate costume finally has the social calendar it deserves. From Friday, October 30, through Sunday, November 1, NYC is serving up haunted corridors, Disney sing-alongs and dancing beneath a shower of fake blood. Plan your recovery accordingly.
The 10 best ways to celebrate Halloween in NYC this weekend:
1. Join the Village Halloween Parade
Greenwich Village’s annual procession returns Saturday, October 31, with giant puppets and enough costume inspiration to make your emergency cat ears feel inadequate. March with the monsters or claim a viewing spot.
2. Brave BloodManor
At 359 Broadway, this 10,000-square-foot haunted house deploys actors, special effects and sinister corridors against your nervous system. Admission starts at $50; the attraction is considered too scary for children under 14. Adults, good luck.
3. Dance at the Vampire Ball
Industry City’s October 31 party spreads across indoor and outdoor spaces, with seven stages and a recreation of Blade’s blood rave. Yes, fake blood rains onto dancers. Choose your outfit with that information.
4. Sing your Disney-villain heart out
Poor Unfortunate Souls brings the Little Mermen & the Princess Pals to SoHo Live at 94 Lafayette Street on Friday. The 21-plus costume party and concert runs from 7:30pm to 10pm; advance tickets are $18 before fees.
5. Take the kids to Bryant Park
Friday’s Tricks and Treats runs from 4pm to 6pm, with free magic, science, pumpkin decorating and crafts. Carousel rides with the Headless Horseman cost $5. Activities are first-come, first-served and weather permitting.
6. Pick your own soundtrack in Astoria
Bohemian Hall’s Silent Scream party runs Saturday from 9pm to 1am. Wireless headphones offer three DJ channels, letting your group disagree about music without splitting up.
7. Get lost in Queens
The Queens County Farm Museum’s three-acre Amazing Maize Maze welcomes visitors Saturday and Sunday. Admission costs $17 for adults and $10 for children ages 3–11. (Your phone’s navigation skills won’t impress anyone here.)
8. Celebrate Meowloween at Caveat
Saturday’s Catbaret mixes feline-themed comedy, burlesque and music from 7pm to 8:30pm. Tickets are $30, attendees must be 21-plus and everyone gets cat ears.
9. Bring your little creatures to Boo at the Zoo
The Bronx Zoo’s daytime celebration wraps up this weekend with costume parades, magic and a hay-bale adventure course, included with admission.
10. Finish above the fray
Time Out Market’s free Halloween Horror From Above party brings DJs, cocktail specials and a $100 best-costume prize to DUMBO on Saturday, 9pm–2am. Reserve ahead.
