Move over, Halloween—it's time to set sights on the most wonderful time of year. Christmas in NYC is unmatched, and hotels around the city are about to don their holiday best, with festive trees, twinkling lights and so much more. Before Manhattan's top hotels transform for the season, Time Out editors have revealed their annual ranking of the NYC hotels with the most festive holiday decorations, and number one is a must-see.

Taking the top spot for over-the-top holiday displays is Lotte New York Palace. While the historic property is legendary year-round, it steps up its game come Christmastime. Its ornate interior lobby bursts with lush garlands and glittering lights, but the real star of the show sits outside in the Palace Courtyard: a magnificent 35-foot Christmas tree.

The Palace’s holiday decor is a masterpiece of festive extravagance. Past displays have featured more than 1,000 feet of garland, 30,000 lights throughout the hotel and a courtyard tree adorned with 4,500 lights and more than 1,000 ornaments. Guests and visitors can admire intricate sweet creations like The Gingerbread Palace—a mini replica of the hotel finished with a roof made from 950 macarons. For a cozy seasonal treat, the hotel’s Courtyard Winter Bar serves up warm indulgences like a Mexican Mint Hot Chocolate, spiked with Patrón Silver Tequila, peppermint schnapps and Madagascar dark chocolate.

While Lotte New York Palace claims the ultimate title, a slew of other luxury hotels are worth a visit (or a stay) during the holidays. Coming in at number two on Time Out's list is The Beekman, known for its timeless, elegant decor and an enchanting Christmas tree framed by its multi-story historic atrium. Taking third place is Omni Berkshire Place, which brings playful holiday energy with its fully decked-out Blitzen Bar, serving seasonal cocktails and plenty of festive photo ops.

The rest of the list serves as a holiday hotel tour, because the best part about NYC’s holiday hotel displays is that you don’t need a room reservation to check them out. Most courtyards, lobbies and seasonal bars are completely open to the public, allowing passersby to stroll in, admire the twinkling lights, grab a drink and soak in the festive cheer.
