Your living room TV has had a good run, but it might struggle to compete with this setup: Queens Center is turning its three-story Rotunda into a Knicks cheering section next week, with a free home opener watch party on its giant Digital Spectacular screen. (Consider it a perfect excuse to wear every piece of orange and blue you own somewhere besides your couch.)

The gathering takes place on Tuesday, October 20, from 7–9 pm at the shopping center’s Queens Boulevard entrance, where fans can watch the New York Knicks kick off their 2026–27 season together. The screen sits inside a three-story domed atrium, with balconies surrounding it, giving the evening a much more dramatic setting than your usual watch spot. Queens Center says fans will have views from all levels, so the cheering section can spread beyond the Rotunda floor.

And there’s plenty to cheer about before the opening basket: the Knicks enter the season after their first NBA championship in 53 years, clinching the title against the San Antonio Spurs in June. New York spent the summer celebrating a victory generations of fans had waited for.

Organizers are encouraging attendees to bring friends and wear their sports gear and the event is completely free, making it an appealing option for anyone who wants a communal opening-night experience without splurging on a Madison Square Garden ticket.

Head to the Rotunda at the Queens Boulevard entrance for the 7pm start; the advertised watch-party window runs through 9pm. After a championship summer, opening night deserves something bigger than balancing a phone against a takeout container. Bring the blue and orange.
