New York does holiday excess better than just about anywhere else—and if you haven’t yet taken a spin on the city’s only two-story carousel, consider this your final nudge.
The double-decker Christmas Carousel at Greeley Square is officially in its last stretch, with fewer than two weeks left to ride before it packs up for the season. Located at 33rd Street and Broadway, just steps from Herald Square and Macy’s holiday chaos, the festive ride is one of those unique winter attractions that feels delightfully out of scale with everyday city life.
Riders can choose the ground level for a classic carousel spin or climb to the upper deck, where the payoff is a 360-degree view of Broadway’s holiday lights, storefronts and end-of-year buzz. The ride is both nostalgic and surreal, especially after dark amid the city’s surrounding glow.

The carousel is presented by the 34th Street Partnership and has been quietly anchoring the neighborhood’s holiday scene all season. Its location makes it an easy add-on to just about any winter errand, whether you’re holiday shopping at Macy’s, browsing the nearby markets or killing time with out-of-towners. One spin takes just a few minutes, but it still feels like a proper holiday moment.
Rides run daily from 10am to 10pm through Sunday, January 4, 2026, making winter break prime time. If crowds aren’t your thing, weekday mornings from 10am to 11am are designated sensory-friendly hours, which provides a calmer experience with reduced stimulation.
If your holiday calendar still has a little breathing room, this is your sign to take one last spin while you can. Once it’s gone, it’s gone, at least until next winter (and even then, nothing’s guaranteed).
