Time Out says

There are intimate music venues aplenty in Singapore, but how often have you witnessed the artistic development behind a performance? Esplanade’s answer is Annexe Studio, a two-storey space that offers you a glimpse into the processes local and regional artists go through as they create, rehearse and perform new works. You'll get to attend open mic sessions and intimate gigs, as well as participate in workshops or masterclasses.

What’s on

Samm Henshaw

Heart-on-sleeve soul gets a technicolour glow with Samm Henshaw. The London-born, Nigerian singer-songwriter has a knack for turning raw feeling into big, joyful sound, sliding from tender croons to full-bodied choruses that hit you right in the chest. Blending soul, R&B, indie and funk, Henshaw first caught ears with ‘Only Wanna Be With You’, before ‘How Does It Feel?’, ‘Broke’ and fan favourite ‘Grow’ propelled him onto global playlists and sold-out stages. Praised by many for his “warm yet rough-hewn voice”, his latest album It Could Be Worse channels heartbreak into something hopeful, cathartic and alive.

Lacuna Coil

Italian gothic metal heavyweights Lacuna Coil are set to unleash their dark, theatrical fury on Singapore this February. Touching down at Esplanade Annexe Studio on February 9, the band brings their Sleepless Empire Tour to the city as part of LAMC’s Singapore Rockfest series. You best believe there’ll be thunderous riffs, dual-vocal drama and the cinematic intensity that’s earned them a fiercely loyal global following and over two million records sold. Fresh cuts from Sleepless Empire, including ‘Never Dawn’, ‘I Wish You Were Dead’ and the Randy Blythe–assisted ‘Hosting the Shadow’ sit comfortably alongside fan favourites, promising a sweat-drenched, adrenaline-fuelled night.
