Save your jokes about Singapore’s west side being a secluded farmland. Accessibility there is getting an upgrade, with a brand new MRT station being added to the red North-South Line (NSL). Sitting smack between the existing Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Gombak MRT stations, the future Brickland MRT station will see a start in its construction works from 2026 onwards, which is great news for those who have applied for the Brickland Weave BTO project, as well as existing residents of the area.

This is not to be confused with the upcoming MRT interchange station at Sungei Kadut, which will be located between Yew Tee and Kranji, and connect the NSL to the blue Downtown Line. That’s right – the red line’s future expansion involves at least two new stations boosting convenience for Westies.

But don’t get too excited just yet, because like the one at Sungei Kadut, Brickland station will only be opening in the 2030s – with an expected launch date of 2034, to be exact. That’s almost a decade from now, but we’re certain this will be well worth the wait.

Closer on the horizon, commuters can look forward to the completion of the Circle Line loop with three new train stations opening along Singapore’s South and business district in 2026: Keppel, Cantonment, and Prince Edward Road.
