Between sudden flight delays, crazy queues even after arriving three hours in advance, and being heavily questioned by security during immigration, airports can be pretty darn stressful. But not when you’re visiting Singapore. According to a new index by travel insurance comparison site iService, Singapore Changi Airport is the least stressful airport in the world – and one could say that we're biased, but we completely agree.

According to the index which takes into account 50 major airports across the globe, our pride and joy Changi Airport scores swimmingly – the highest, in fact – in aspects of immigration and customs, security checks, check-in wait times, and ease of access to the airport. It also has the second-lowest rate of cancelled flights, with Seoul scoring the best in that regard. But of course, we can’t expect anything less from the 13-time winner of the World’s Best Airport award by Skytrax.

Rounding off the top three is Doha’s Hamad International Airport (#2), followed by Seoul’s Incheon International Airport (#3).

On the flip side, the world’s most stressful airports are located in the Western world, with Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, United States, being the most stress-inducing. That’s not the only American airport with a less-than-stellar score; John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York and Chicago O'Hare International Airport are named as the fourth and fifth most stressful respectively. Lisbon Airport in Portugal and Manchester Airport in the UK are also part of the naughty list.

If you find yourself in Singapore, don’t just marvel at the airport for how clean and beautiful it is, or how smooth-sailing its processes are. Schedule in some time to explore the copious amount of things to do at Changi Airport – such as visiting its butterfly garden, free 24-hour cinema, and rock climbing facility. Also make sure you check out Jewel Changi, our airport mall which boasts the world’s largest indoor waterfall. There's nothing like a whole indoor forest and plenty of recreational spaces to calm those nerves before a flight.
