This year marks a whole decade since the verdant Singapore Botanic Gardens has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Alongside its first-ever light show to celebrate this milestone, the tropical nature attraction also launched a free community-centric exhibition to show how plants and people come together as part of Singapore’s history. If you haven’t already visited Planting Memories: Singapore Botanic Gardens Through the Eyes of the Community, now’s your last chance to drop by before it ends its run on January 4, 2026.
Through a series of interactive displays featuring artwork, videos, as well as personal stories and memories from across the years, learn more about what goes on behind the scenes at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, its growth over the years, and its nature conservation efforts, among other initiatives. Extending outdoors at the CDL Green Gallery is Gathering Roots, a multi-sensory art installation that requires you to listen and observe as you go about taking in the sculptural floral plant displays.
Other highlights include a station where visitors can pledge their wishes for the future of the Gardens, along with a fun touchscreen game where you can attempt to grow a healthy, majestic Tembusu tree – the icon of our five dollar note.
Planting Memories: Singapore Botanic Gardens Through the Eyes of the Community is located at the Singapore Botanic Gardens’ CDL Green Gallery and People’s Gallery exhibition spaces, near the Gardens’ Gates, and will be running from 9am to 6pm daily until January 4, 2026 (except December 20, 2025).
While you’re here, do check out the Singapore Herbarium, also at the Botanic Gardens, and watch its digitisation unfold live in the first showcase of its kind in the world.
