Claudine

Best for indulging in French classics by an award-winning chef in a beautifully restored chapel

This stunning Dempsey Hill restaurant by Julien Royer – the mastermind behind the three-Michelin-starred Odette – is an ode to classic French dining with a touch of romance. Its new weekday lunch menu brings lighter takes to the table, such as the Niçoise tartine with tuna belly and marinated peppers, and the lobster roll, stuffed in toasted brioche with cocktail sauce and pommes frites on the side. Pair it with house-crafted tea infusions and let the soft glow of the chapel windows work their magic.

Esora

Best for experiencing Japanese fine dining in a Michelin-starred, kappo-style restaurant

A meal at Esora feels like a secret whispered in a hushed room – intimate, refined, and quietly impressive. Helmed by chef Takeshi Araki, the kappo-style omakase spotlights seasonal menus, in which you can either opt for a seven-course or nine-course option from the final menu, available from December 11 to 29. The standout? The seasonal foie gras monaka, served with chestnut and mango. Complete the experience with the tea pairing programme, or savour the seasonal hassun for a snapshot of Japan’s autumnal bounty. The restaurant closes by year’s end, so go now, and make it count.

Belimbing

Best for trying ‘new-gen’ Singaporean cuisine, where local flavours are reimagined

Belimbing is what happens when heritage meets hype. This buzzy spot by the popular Haji Lane takes familiar flavours like sambal, buah keluak, belacan, and spins them into contemporary dishes. The three-course lunch and five-course dinner menus are full of surprises, from the umami-packed clam custard spiked with assam pedas and white pepper, to the smoked wagyu ox tongue dressed in chinchalok and starfruit. For something hearty, try the comforting claypot rice with confit squid and buah keluak, or the crispy scale marble goby in cashew nut curry and seaweed laksa verde. And if you see the corn salat, get it – every part of the corn is used, even the husk.

Tanjong Beach Club

Best for soaking up the sun at Sentosa with cocktails and wood-fired coastal cuisine by the sea

If your idea of al fresco dining involves sand between your toes and a spritz in hand, Tanjong Beach Club is calling your name. Kick back on a daybed and go big with the plateaux seafood tower, featuring Boston lobster, fresh seasonal oysters, clams, Atlantic prawns and Hokkaido scallops. Over at the restaurant, sink your teeth into the wood-fired half chicken or Tajima Wagyu Denver steak. With a sweet and refreshing finish like the TBC La Côte pop, beach beats and sea breeze, it’s easy to lose yourself in this sun-soaked escape.

Le Bon Funk

Best for exploring rare vino finds alongside tasty, produce-led plates

This charming natural wine bar on Club Street and Holland Village has a cult following for good reason. The vibe is effortlessly cool, the playlist impeccable, and the wines – think obscure orange bottles and funky reds – are matched by small and sharing plates that complement the flavours. At weekend lunches, the cast iron pancakes with dark maple syrup are non-negotiable: crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, and utterly decadent. Its heritage chicken, a Le Bon Funk staple since day one, is slow-roasted and fire-finished for smoky perfection.

The Coconut Club

Best for savouring the rich flavours of Michelin-approved nasi lemak

Singapore’s favourite nasi lemak joint continues to reign supreme, and its Michelin Bib Gourmand 2025 nod only cements its legacy. At the heart of its signature dish is its proprietary ‘White Sutera’ coconut milk, a creamy blend of kampong and mawa coconuts cold-pressed fresh daily. No second thoughts – go straight for the ayam goreng berempah nasi lemak, where spiced fried chicken is served alongside fragrant coconut rice and sambal. Other must-trys include the Singaporean seafood laksa, chicken satay, and the vibrant kueh sampler, refined with the help of kueh maestro Christopher Tan. Then wash it all down with a velvety coconut shake.

Fico

Best for enjoying honest, seasonal Italian cooking by the breezy shores of East Coast Park

Awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2025, this semi-casual waterfront restaurant is all about celebrating the simple pleasures in life. Start with the San Marzano tomatoes focaccina, a pizza-focaccia hybrid that brings the best of both worlds. Then segue into the spaghetti cacio e pepe, twirled straight from a pecorino wheel right in front of your eyes. You also have to try the seasonal seafood dishes including the charcoal-grilled octopus, before hitting the signature Italian dessert trolley.

Somma

Best for tasting contemporary Italian cuisine with a touch of creative flair

Helmed by Chef-owner Mirko Febbrile, Somma is the kind of place that makes every meal feel like a love letter to Italy. Available till February, Folklore (winter menu) unfolds over six exquisite courses, from the blue lobster porridge, a soulful umami-rich blend slowly cooked with koji and razor clam broth, to the milk-fed lamb finished with a smoky kiss of embers, and layered with winter truffle, Hokkaido pumpkin, and blood orange. Don’t worry if you miss this menu –  there’s always a new season of flavours to look forward to. True cheese devotees should add the Somma Cheese Experience, a private tasting of Italian wheels aged in-house. Afterwards, slip into the adjacent Bar Somma for a savoury Mirko’s Martini or the cult favourite Amatriciana, a cocktail that literally tastes like its namesake pasta in a glass.
