Stories of Everyday — National Museum of Singapore’s 139th Anniversary Celebrations

To mark its 139th anniversary and the reopening of the revamped Singapore History Gallery, the National Museum of Singapore is throwing a huge celebration. Stories of Everyday is a nine-day event packed with festivities that includes live in-gallery performances, workshops, installations and other family-friendly activities.

Happening daily is The Living Archive, a living and design market where local makers give everyday objects new meaning. Expect a little bit of everything, from pottery, leather bags and bakes to handcrafted tile goods, fashion and art prints. What’s even better? The vendor lineup will get refreshed, so you’ll have an excuse to drop by the museum more than once. Elsewhere, join community jamming sessions, get hands-on with anyaman (traditional weaving), and go back in time at the National Living Room, a nostalgic showcase pairing vintage furniture with stories from the past.

Also, keep your eyes peeled for Stoney, the museum’s new mascot inspired by the Singapore Stone, an ancient sandstone boulder whose only piece is on display at the Singapore History Gallery. Look forward to meet-and-greet sessions with the literal “rock” star, exclusive merch and more.
