If summer afternoons had a flavour it'd be the bittersweet taste of the ultimate Italian refresher, the Aperol Spritz. When we were young we used to dream of being stuck inside a department store overnight, free to jump on the display beds, try on the furs and spritz all the perfumes. Now we’d prefer to be locked in 121 BC, a Surry Hills enoteca where we could go wild with biodynamic wines and tasty snacks with no supervision. All we ever want to do is while away the hours with an orange wine from Friuli in Northeastern Italy or a Spritz.
The Bondi Bowling Club has received the fairy godmother treatment from the team behind Panama House and Corner House. Bondi’s popularity means getting a big crew seated is no small undertaking, but there’s still plenty of space here. If you can't find a seat up on the balcony that overlooks Crown Street and makes you feel like the king of the castle, surveying your lands, aim for one in the beer garden, which is an excellent spot to post up with an Aperol Spritz in the afternoon.
An afternoon spent by the harbour in the Watsons Bay’s beer garden is like taking a mini break without having to leave the city limits. The beer garden is one of the best places in Sydney to watch the sun set behind the city skyline, especially if you have a cocktail in hand.

In this famously windy pocket of Surry Hills you can get some ace pizza, a pesto lasagna and all the Italian cocktails you can handle. Grab one of the outdoor seats and watch the light fade on the day with a Spritz in hand, or maybe a Bicicletta if you're feeling really traditional.
