If you’re looking to skip the Niseko crowds, Furano Ski Resort is an excellent alternative. Known for its vibrant flower fields in spring and summer, the area transforms into a stunning ski destination once the snow sets in. The family-friendly resort spans two connected peaks, offering everything from gentle beginner slopes to high-speed runs once used for World Cup races. Ski season here usually runs from late November to early May.
Not big into skiing or snowboarding? No problem – head over to Furano Snowland where you can enjoy other snow-related activities such as snowmobiling, banana boating and sledding.
Furano Ski Resort is approximately a two-hour drive from New Chitose Airport or an hour’s drive from Asahikawa Airport. If you choose to train to the area, it’s a ten-minute car or taxi ride from Furano Station.
