Derby and Inverness have been named the two best places for a wallet-friendly drink

Have you winced at the sound of a bartender announcing the price of your pint recently? Or murmured rude words under your breath when the price of half-pint sounds ridiculously close the the cost of a full glass? You’re not alone. Recent research shows that there has been a 10 percent jump in the number of people finding the average cost of a pint to be ‘unaffordable’.
A survey commissioned by the Campaign for Real Ale recently found that 52 percent of people said pints were becoming unaffordable, up from 42 percent in 2019. Pub-goers face paying an average of £4 for a pint across the UK, while Londoners are lucky if they’re getting a pint for less than £5.
And now, as if to help us all out in these tough times, another report, from comparison site Finder, has found the places with the most wallet-friendly pints. And where came top? Out of all places surveyed, Derby and Inverness have been named the two British cities with the cheapest beers – at just £3 on average.
The survey combined data from crowdsourced price database Numbeo and cost-of-living calculator Expatistan to find the average price for a cold one in every British city.
Here are the top 20 cities for a cheap pint, according to Finder:
