If you're already dreaming about powder days, cozy lodges and an excuse to spend an unreasonable amount of money on après-ski cocktails, here's some news relevant to your interests: One Utah-based ski resort has just been named the best in America.

Deer Valley Resort in Park City took the No. 1 spot in Condé Nast Traveler's 2026 Readers' Choice Awards ranking of the best ski resorts in North America, earning an almost perfect score of 97.78 out of 100. That puts it ahead of Sun Valley, Vail, Whistler Blackcomb and Jackson Hole. And gives Utah something to brag about now that Sundance has fled for Boulder, Colorado.

The ranking, released this week, was based on thousands of reader votes, with the publication considering everything from ski terrain and access to accommodations, restaurants and après-ski offerings. Deer Valley came out on top among 15 resorts spanning the U.S. and Canada.

Deer Valley is hardly a secret among serious skiers. The resort is known for its meticulously groomed slopes, high-end lodging and famously polished guest experience. It also has a major distinction among American ski destinations: It limits the number of skiers on its slopes each day, helping keep your ski vacation from looking like your daily commute to work.

And Deer Valley isn't the only Utah resort getting some love. Solitude landed at No. 6 in the North America ranking with a score of 93.12, making Utah the only state with two resorts in the top 10.

Padding out the rest of the top five were Sun Valley, Idaho, at No. 2; Vail, Colorado, at No. 3; Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia at No. 4; and Silver Star Mountain, also in British Columbia, at No. 5. Internationally, Switzerland's Zermatt clinched the overall world title, scoring 98.33.
