In the mood for some good vibes and island tides? A tropical getaway might just be on the cards. Qantas seems to agree, having just launched a huge sale across its Pacific network, with more than 18,000 discounted seats to eight dreamy island destinations – starting from just $579. The sale covers long-time faves like Fiji and Vanuatu, alongside hidden gems like New Caledonia and Norfolk Island – putting paradise just a short flight away.
The week-long sale kicks off today (October 20) and ends on Monday, October 26 at 11.59pm AEDT, unless sold out prior. Discounted fares span various travel dates between November 2026 and September 2027, which means you can sneak in a summer trip or lock in plans to escape next year’s winter.
Interestingly, one in every 30 overseas trips taken by Aussies ends in the Pacific Islands – so if you’ve never been or if it’s been years between visits, take this as your sign to book a holiday. Wondering where you can go?
Economy return fares start at just $579 from Brisbane to Port Vila in Vanuatu for travel between January and September 2027. This includes the peak drier season from May to September, when conditions are prime for snorkelling, diving and island-hopping.
You can also fly from Sydney to Fiji from $599 return on select dates between January 26 and March 22 – the ideal window to avoid the summer rush and experience the islands at their lush, green best.
If you’re looking for a long weekend escape, Norfolk Island is our top pick. Return flights to this hidden South Pacific paradise – a quick 2.5-hour hop from Sydney or Brisbane – start at $599 for travel between June and August. Also close to home, Nouméa offers a taste of France with more sand and palm trees – with fares starting at $609 for travel between February and August.
On top of these deals, you can score return flights to Tonga from $699, Palau or the Solomon Islands from $799, and Samoa from $1,099. Seriously good stuff!
